Everyone over the age of 40 is now eligible to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

The Commonwealths Covid-19 vaccination program has been expanded to include everyone 40 years and over from Friday 28 May.

Victorians aged 40-49 will be able to access the Pfizer vaccinate at state run vaccination sites. Those wanting a vaccine must book an appointment by calling the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398 and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible as not all vaccination centres have Pfizer available.

Those over 50 will continue to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at state run vaccination clinics or local GP’s.

While many vaccination centres are accepting walk-in appointments for people aged 50 years and over, bookings via the 1800 675 398 hotline are preferred.

The news comes as Victoria sees a record demand for vaccinations this week, with a 7-day circuit breaker lockdown announced on 27 May.

Minister for Health Martin Foley said almost 400,000 Victorians have already been vaccinated.

“The latest outbreak is a reminded that the best thing you can do to keep your community safe as we head into winter is to go out and get vaccinated,” he said.
