The Victorian Government’s announcement of new recycled picnic tables as part of the $21 million Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program will include the Dandenong Ranges National Park.
The tables are made from recycled plastic and will save 5.67 tonnes of household and industrial plastic waste from going into landfills – helping Victoria reach its target of diverting 80 percent of waste from landfills by 2030.
Minister for Energy, Environment, and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio announced on 15 March the addition of recycled tables at 17 parks across the state.
“The use of recycled plastic in this project is the perfect example of resource recovery that is protecting the environment,” she said.
“The Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program is making a big difference to green spaces in our suburbs and is an example of the Labor Government’s strong record of support for growing communities across Melbourne.”
More to come.
