A maintenance worker has died after falling through a polycarbonate roof panel on a shed at a Monbulk plant nursery on Wednesday 29 June.

The 66-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, but died on Friday 1 July.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.

The death brings the workplace fatality toll to 27 for 2022, six fewer than at the same time last year.

This comes after another man was declared deceased after being injured while using a harvester at a Ure Road farm in Gembrook on Wednesday 29 June.

The nursery was contacted for comment and is not providing statements to the media at this time.

The Star Mail understands staff are still shocked after the incident.
