Running all this week, Harmony Week is the celebration which recognises Australia’s diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Here’s three ways to celebrate.
1. Wear orange
According to the Federal Government’s website, “orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations”. So dig through your closet for the best orange outfit.
2. Encourage others to share their culture
With people from across the globe calling Australia home, what better way to broaden your horizons than starting a conversation with your neighbour or your colleague about their culture.
3. Eat culturally diverse food
Food is one of the best unifying cultural touchstones and is a great social connector. Have a look to see if a local community house or organisation hosts regular lunches and tag along!
