FIRE-FIGHTERS in the Yarra Ranges will be the first in Victoria to practice with innovative new training equipment, making sure they’re ready for anything.
Three new prototype mobile training props were unveiled today at Lilydale Showgrounds, with a demonstration featuring members of Lilydale and Mount Evelyn CFA.
The training props are 20-foot shipping containers that contain training situations when set up, with car, house and industrial fire variations currently being tested over an eight-month period.
CFA brigades that would have previously had to travel in order to train in different situations will be able to have the mobile props transported to them for use, saving hours of transport.
CFA training delivery manager Craig Ferguson said the mobile props would greatly help to improve fire-fighters in real life situations.
