Upwey man caught driving almost 50 kilometres over the limit

An Upwey man will be charged after being detected driving at 117 kilometres per hour in a 70 kilometre zone along Burwood Highway in Upper Ferntree Gully on the evening of Tuesday 14 February.

The 24-year-old Upwey sped past an unmarked Highway Patrol vehicle on his way to a chiropractic appointment, entering the car park the wrong way past a No Entry sign.

He will be charged with driving at a speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit and disobeying a no entry sign.

He will lose his license for a minimum of 12 months and is set to appear before a Magistrate in the near future.
